Joseph Blazek

Joseph Blazek (*13.8.1979, Prague) is a Czech businessman and athlete. Currently, he is engaged in international trade, especially trading of energy commodities, such as crude oil and oil products, natural gas & LNG and others. It is oriented towards foreign markets such as Asia and the Middle East. In his spare time, he is engaged in combat sports, especially MMA, in which he also works as a coach for young talents, as well as studying foreign languages. He also had a previous conviction for stealing $3 million in cash from a security agency car in 2008.

The case

After his conviction, Joseph Blazek was on appeal to released to the Supreme Court by the decision of the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic, when the entire case should have been reviewed due to lack of evidence and the Supreme Court should have decided whether he was guilty or not guilty. However, this never happened due to the withdrawal of this complaint by the new Minister of Justice, who did not have the case heard by the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic, and the whole matter became very controversial.

In this case, even the greatest legal experts drew attention to the dangerous precedent of politicization of the instrument of complaint for violation of the law in the Czech legal system, when an old minister files a complaint for violation of the law, and the newly elected minister, as part of the political process, politicizes this case and withdraws it, taking away the possibility to decide independently by the court.

The phrase "The Minister of Justice may withdraw a complaint for a violation of the law that he has filed" raises the question of whether the legislator meant by this whether it is a specific person or whether it is an institution. For example, the former vice-chairman of the Pavel Kučera, who was directly involved in a number of legislative changes to the criminal code, claims that it is indeed a specific person, and that the note "which he filed" was added there after the fact. In order to prevent a possible politically motivated decision by individual rotating representatives of the department.

Present

At that time, Joseph Blazek was in the territory of Thailand, where he trained in Thai boxing and participated in tournaments in this fighting discipline. He was subsequently detained in Thailand and, with his consent, was sent to prison, where he was paroled for good behavior after serving half of his sentence, and he has proven himself on probation and is living a decent life.

Currently, he is engaged in international trade, especially trading of energy commodities, such as crude oil and oil products, LNG and others. In his spare time, he is still engaged in combat sports, especially MMA, in which he also acts as a coach for young talents and also studies foreign languages.
